What choice for your pool fence?
With the recent modification of the Queensland pool fence regulations, most of us are faced with fixing or replacing parts of our pool fence. Doing the work yourself may be a cheaper option, but you must be certain of what you are doing, because you don’t want your fence to still be non-compliant at the inspector’s second visit! And if you ask for professional assistance, remember to shop around. You can get very different quotes for exactly the same work!
Of course, the usual sight around a pool is the tubular aluminium fence. But your choice is not limited to that. You can also use wood (check compliance) or even glass.
When having recourse to professionals, make sure you give them financial guidelines before you set them loose or you will end up with a very nice fence, but a very expensive one, made of custom-built panels and convoluted designs.
New trend, the glass fences are very good in this that they do not ruin the landscaping of your garden and turn it into a jailhouse promenade yard. Safety-wise, they are even more efficient than the usual tubular fences, because they are less easily climbable by the 4 year-old child for which the regulations are made. They come in different widths (from 80 to 120 cm), are 120 cm high and 2 mm thick, made of toughened glass with smoothed edges.
