Starting 1 July 2007 Rainwater Tanks will become mandatory throughout QLD for all new homes with a reticulated water service from 1 July 2007.

Tank Requirements: Minimum 5000L for single detached houses. Tanks and supporting structures more than 2.4m must be at least 1.5m from a side boundary. Tanks under 2.4m high may be situated within the boundary setbacks when prior approval is given. Unless council provides a relaxation, tanks must be at least 6m from the road boundary.
